To The Victims

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dears,
For auld lang syne,
we'll raise a cup of sorrow now
For auld lang syne!

And ever we'll remember them
For they were yours and mine
we'll treasure memories ever more
For auld lang syne!

For auld lang syne, my dears,

We long had wandered through the hills
we loved the forests fine,
now we'll wander many a broken day
From auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my dears,

We held them once upon a time
From evening till day's shine
But now the flames have sundered us
from auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my dears,

And tho our hearts are broken loves
for you we long shall pine
and pray for you to He above
for auld lang syne

For auld lang syne, my dears,

Some friends and I played and sang to these lyrics last night and it brought tears to our tears.

I was born & bought up in Marysville.
My Father was one of many bushmanto Protect Our Future
We had Forrest Commision to maintain fire tracks through the bush, and burn off the undergrowth through the forrest every year.
We had the Country Roads Board to maintain and keep the roads clear of scrub. We had the Board of Works to maintain and keep our Water Reserves clean of undergrowth.
Our Families collected old Dead trees for firewood, this helping to keep our forests clear.
ENTER the Greenies, they WOULD NOT KNOW.
Do not Burn off, Do not clear fire tracks, Do not collect dead wood.
Do not keep our roads safe.
Now we have had the Shocking Distruction of what our Families fought so hard to PROTECT for so many years.
Was the vote of these IDIOTS worth such a tragic loss , Human Life, Animal Life, Lively Hoods Entire Communities and Our Forests,

You're right Helen. For anyone who has lived or even spent a lot of time in Marysville the tragedy that struck on February 7 is hard to deal with.

Yesterday my young bloke was wearing a jumper from Marysville State School with the names of his classmates. I noticed the name of one boy who died on Black Saturday with his mother and brother.

We have Joan Kirner and John Cain to thank for the loss of The Forests Commission and its replacement by the massive green bureacracy of DSE and Parks Victoria.

We have a mad government which orders us to plant offsets of native trees of 30 to 1 every time we fell a tree on our our land. This is the green way of exporting fire from public land on to private property and driving landowners from the bush.

Fear is a good motivator but the tragedy is that there is nothing to be afraid if our forests are well managed. This is why I talk about manufactured fire - the fires we have seen since 2003 are not a natural phenomenon.
